James Emmanuel Wilson, better known as Jim, is a character in The Magnificent Journey of Lewis.
Jim had lived as a homeless person all his life. He spent the first eleven years of his life with his mother, Carrie. But when Carrie became pregnant again, she told Jim that it was time for him to go out on his own. At first, she told him as gently as she could, but as her stomach grew bigger and bigger, Carrie became more irritated, finally screaming at her son and calling him very insulting names. Shocked by his mother's bad attitude towards him, Jim ran away from her. He refused to ever go near her again.
Jim wandered the streets alone, usually deciding that pickpocketing was better than begging.
